22 Mar 2010 League Match Vs Woodlands Vista

Unido FC visits Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School to square off against Woodlands Vista. After last week's disappointment of a match cancellation due to bad weather, football finally prevails as the weather succumbs to the determination of the boys.

Woodlands got the match underway, keeping possession of the ball as Unido looks sluggish off the blocks. However Unido looks the more likier team to score, creating more clear cut chances with their soak and break approach. Woodlands is lacking the final touch in the last third of the field but the moment arrives, the lanky number 14 striker latches onto a through ball, slipping the ball past keeper Wenwei. One nil to Woodlands and that seems to jolt up Unido. In come 3 substitutions and a ditch of the 4-2-3-1 formation to a 4-4-2. The changes pay off as JLo equalises for Unido with an intelligent chip after seeing his initial shot parried away by the Woodlands' keeper. The score stays square all the way till half time.

The second half resumes with some shuffling to Unido's lineup. Unido presses hard to get the winning goal, forcing numerous corners. As they launch their forays forward, gaps start to open up behind. Unido's defence gets caught out after a long clearance from Woodlands off a corner. Unido centreback, Sherman's weak back header is intercepted by number 14 of Woodlands. He capitalizes on the blunder, clashes with Unido's keeper but recovers fast enough to prod the ball into the back of the net. 2-1 to Woodlands against the run of play. However, Unido are on par again within minutes! Winger Junqiang controlled a long pass nicely and hook the ball past Woodlands' keeper, who has been in scantillating form. He thwart shots after shots from Unido's attackers, including a point-blank save off a low header from Seng. Unido keeps Woodlands on the back-pedal for much of the remaining minutes but fails to find a way past the inspiring Woodlands keeper for a third time. The game ends in a 2-2 draw, 2 previous points lost in their quest for promotion.
